This past year has seen some major changes in
the family situation.
Last October our lives changed radically when Scott was called to be
2nd Counselor in the Wausau WI stake Presidency. Over the course of
the next 8 months the stake president, R. Thomas Growcock, was diagnosed
with a brain tumor, experienced declining health, and finally passed away
in early July of this year. Scott considers it one of his choicest
blessing to have been able to serve, and serve with, a man whom he loved
dearly.
As the year has progressed there have been major events, and more major
changes. It was Joseph's senior year of high school and a time to
prepare for leaving the nest. He graduated in June, spent a summer
at home, then departed for BYU-Idaho in Rexburg, ID this fall. We
are all adjusting to the smaller family and the gaping hole that he
leaves.
Last December the family enjoyed a holiday trip down to San Antonio and
a reunion with Scott's family. It was great to get away and get the
Cunninghams together for the first time in about 10 years.
In August of this year another change hit us as Scott was called to be the president
of the Wausau WI stake. It has required a lot of commitment on our
part to keep family priorities where they should be, and still allow him
to effectively fulfill this assignment. He has wonderful counselors
and stake leaders to work with.
And now, as Erin approaches 16, yet another Cunningham takes to the
steering wheel. The whole family has set aside Tuesday evening for
Tai Kwan Do classes. There have been speech contests, and drama
productions, and instrument practices. There's early morning
seminary and the multitude of events that every family juggles.
Scott and Kris are getting older and grayer, the children are getting
bigger and leaving the nest. And life is wonderful. We're so
grateful for all that the Lord has blessed us with in terms of our family
and our situation.
We'd love for our friends and family to come see us - - the door is
always open and the welcome mat is always out.
